We had a desire when we started our first organization, My Happy Place and that was to help both women and children. With the forming of My Happy Haven, we have now fulfilled the second part of that equation. When we completed our first room, we knew what we were doing went far beyond painted walls and new bedspreads. The daughter of a recipient commented that it was the “total experience”. She and her husband pitched in to strip layers of wallpaper before My Happy Haven could come in and start painting and working on the room.

On the night of the Reveal over 35 people showed up to support her and wish her well. Posting her picture and bio brought in over 200 comments and it was those she read when hospitalized just days before her Reveal. My Happy Haven gave her a beautiful bedroom, but it gave her so much more. The comments from the women we’ve had the pleasure of knowing have been the same: “you gave me something to look forward to”. “I was able to forget about the cancer because I was so busy looking at pictures and thinking of what I wanted in my room”. And one woman commented that never in a million years did she think she’d ever be able to dream of a pretty bedroom, much less be able to have one.
